During
the
Fall
of
2007
and
the
Spring
of
2008,
the
International
Republican
Institute
(IRI),
National
Democratic
Institute
(NDI),
and
WACA
will
work
together
to
put
on
programs
at
world
affairs
councils
throughout
the
country.
The
programs
will
be
on
the
general
theme
of
Advancing
Democracy
Across
the
Globe
and
can
focus
on
specific
regions
or
topics.
Each
event
will
showcase
how
IRI
and
NDI
work
together
to
promote
democracy. |

Event
Details |

Speakers
from
both
IRI
and
NDI
are
willing
to
do
many
different
types
of
events
while
with
the
council
ranging
from
programs
for
general
audiences
and
media
events.
They
are
especially
interested
in
doing
events
with
high
school
students
as
well.
Councils
can
expect
speakers
to
be
with
them
for
24
hours
and
are
encouraged
to
work
with
other
interested
regional
councils
to
coordinate
timing.
IRI
and
NDI
will
be
responsible
for
the
cost
of
the
speaker's
transportation,
accommodation,
and
meal
costs.
Councils
will
be
responsible
for
ground
travel,
media,
and
organizing
the
event.
IRI
President
Lorne
Craner
and
NDI
President
Ken
Wollack
will
attempt
to
do
as
many
of
the
events
as
possible.
If
they
cannot
participate,
IRI
and
NDI
will
work
with
the
council
to
find
a
knowledgeable
replacement
speaker. |
