multilateralism,
the World
Affairs Councils
of America and
The People Speak
is announcing
the start of a
campaign to
engage students
and their

The People Speak |

|
The People Speak is a community of young people united by
their passion
for global
issues,
providing a
forum for young
voices, ideas,
and
perspectives.
Since the
campaign began
at the United
Nations
Foundation in
2003, there have
been more than
20,000 TPS
discussions and
online
activities
reaching young
people in all 50
states and more
than 50
countries. In
2007-2008, TPS
will feature
initiatives for
high school and
college
students.

WACA accept proposals for a campaign emphasizing the
benefits of
global
cooperation and
multilateralism
and select 8
winners, each of
whom will
receive a grant
of $750 for
proposal
implementation.
The campaign will run for 90 days, during which WACA and
TPS staff will
provide
assistance to
student
campaigns,
including but
not limited to
sources of
background
information and
technical
support.
Progress within
campaigns will
be documented by
one selected
member of each
participating
council, who
will send
periodic blog
entries to the
TPS website.
After 90 days, each of the eight selected toolkits will
then be
displayed on the
TPS site and a
winner voted by
the general
public. The
council with the
winning campaign
will receive a
monetary award
of $1,000 for
their program.
Finally, TPS and WACA will open an application process to
the entire WACA
network, in
which other
councils can
apply for up to
10 mini-grants
of $500 to
implement the
campaign in
their council,
community, or
campus.
